The story of our practice starts with the beginning of dr. mark Lynn's career.
1985
Dr. Mark Lynn accepts an offer to work at Dr. Bizer's Vision World in Louisville, KY.
Straight out of the Southern College of Optometry, Dr. Mark Lynn was offered a position with Dr. Bizer's Vision World to become their newest Optometrist.
1988
Dr. Lynn was named Chief of Staff
Having worked for Jerry Bizer for the last 7 years, Dr. Lynn was named Chief of Staff and was responsible for oversight of every practice under the Dr. Bizer's name.
1992
Dr. Lynn becomes a Partner with Dr. Bizer
By 1994 Dr. Bizer's had expanded from multiple cities in Kentucky to Nashville, TN. When Dr. Bizer expanded into Tennessee, Dr. Lynn was brought on as a partner to help manage and oversee the Tennessee practices.
1998
Dr. Lynn Sole Owner
After Dr. Bizer's retirement in 1998, Dr. Lynn purchased all 19 locations and assumed sole-ownership with the legal business name of Dr. Mark Lynn & Associates.
2011
Rapid Growth & Name Change
Since 1998 Dr. Lynn lead the practice on a rapid expansion over 6 states. From 1998 to 2011 he opened over 70 locations that stretched from Northern Indiana to South Georgia. With the rapid expansion there was a need to unite the locations under one name: Visionworks - Doctors of Optometry.
2021
End of an Era & The Start of New!
In 2021, Dr. Lynn made the difficult decision to transition away from retail optometry, culminating in the sale of our Visionworks offices after decades of dedicated service. While this marked a significant shift, it also presented an exciting opportunity to return to what we value most—providing personalized, patient-centered care through Lynn Family Sports Vision and Training. This new chapter allowed Dr. Lynn to move beyond the retail model, focusing instead on innovative treatments and individualized care. Today, Lynn Family Sports Vision and Training specializes in cutting-edge neuro-ocular therapies, offering advanced treatment for traumatic brain injuries, concussions, and reading deficiencies. Our commitment to patient outcomes drives everything we do, helping individuals recover and thrive.
2023
Return to Routine Optometry!
With the successful launch of Lynn Family Sports Vision and Training, in January of 2023 Dr. Lynn was able to open a brand new endeavor, Lynn Family Vision. Now, with decades of experience and a renewed focus, Lynn Family Vision is proud to provide personalized, full-scope vision care to families across Louisville once again.
