Sports Vision Training
In Sports over 80% of all perceptual input is visual. However, most athletes and trainers never even think about training or improving an athlete's visual system past getting glasses or contacts. To us, glasses and contacts are just the bare minimum anyone should address. We work to improve an athlete's optical system (your eyes) and perceptual system (your brain).
Our services focus on improving optical systems (your eyes) as well as your perceptual system (your brain). The basic visual needs for SPORTS are defined as follows:
1
Visual Acuity
-
Dynamic - this is how well you can see while in motion.
-
Static - this is how well you can when NOT in motion.
2
Eye/Hand/Head/Foot Coordination
Coordination between extremities
3
Eye Focusing
-
Convergence - moving the eyes to be able to see a specific object at a specific place.
-
Divergence - moving the eyes to be able to scan the field or playing area.
4
Peripheral vision
-
This is seeing off to the side without looking.
-
This is also working on the minds ability to see what the brain picks up on and learning to see what the brain process. We call this "working memory".
5
Tracking
The ability to follow an object in time and space.
6
Balance
-
This is being able to tell the smallest difference in what an object is doing or moving.
-
Distinguishing the smallest differences in flight of the ball or path it will take.
-
Making objects seem clearer and more visible.
7
Reaction Time
Being able to respond quicker.
8
Depth Perception
Being able to tell where an object is in space and how it is moving.
9
Contrast Sensitivity
-
Maintaining clear focus also means to able to maintain stability and balance.
-
Keeping good head and body control will allow you to see better and increase all above visual demands.
We believe that the eyes, brain and neural pathways can all either be trained or used to be better at whatever sport or activity you play. This is also where we train the brains ability to process quicker and to distinguish between the "noise" and the object you need to focus on.
This is NOT just for the elite professional athlete but anyone age 6 to 86 can benefit from the training.
If you have a problem with eye movement, eye tracking or even if you see 20/20 and your eyes track great, we can still help the performance of your game by increasing your ability to see issues, make decisions and react to decisions. Book an initial evaluation today and learn how we can help you become a better player!
